How about a scholarship reduction, post season ban, and canceling their non conference schedule for 2 years? It's not quite the Death Penalty, but it would still ne significant.

I like the non-conference ban for 2-3 years. I actually think this would be a pretty effective punishment without doing the collateral damage of a death penalty.

Pretty good write up and discussion by Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe (and espn?..I'm sure I'm seen him on occasions, although I don't watch all those bickering discussions that espn has) and a brief...

I'm not an advocate for giving PSU the death penalty, or closing down football for a year (if there's a difference), but the position to close it down is gaining steam. While freedom of the press is...

missed it re the Trib reprint. Takes the editorial courage down a piece. Not much risk for the Trib to payback from PSU rabids and fans.

Somebody sent Joe Nocera the suggestion that PSU keep the JoePa statue up but change the focus of the statue to a plaque quoting Paterno saying, "I wish I had done more." Pretty powerful.

The statue was taken down this morning. The library will keep Joe's name. Here's the LINK to PSU President Rodney Erickson's statement.

I can't believe that the statue is coming down before the Paterno family's investigation is concluded. Can't they wait another 10 years or so before making such a rash decision?

Per CBS this morning, the penalties to be handed down by the NCAA against PSU will be unprecedented.
